About the Event

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Nursing Professional Development Practitioners: A Learning Circles Approach

This free, 8-lesson course, hosted by the Providence Nursing Institute's Clinical Academy, is designed to empower Nursing Professional Development Practitioners (NPD) with increased knowledge, comfort, and confidence in facilitating education around diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.

Circles include asynchronous 30-60 minutes of pre-learning in Moodle followed by a one hour live virtual learning circle. Clinical Academy staff will host Learning Circle One; participants, aided by detailed recipe cards, will sign up for and lead learning circles 2–7.

Each learning circle cohort will consist of 10 participants. Cohorts will be grouped according to preferred cadence and class dates/times indicated during registration with the following options:

  • Weekly sessions in February and March

  • Twice per month sessions through May

  • Monthly sessions through August

Live sessions will begin in February; dates and times will be sent in January. Approximate time commitment = 14 hours. Participants should commit to and prioritize completion of all pre-learning assignments and attendance to all learning circles. There is limited value in sporadic participation or infrequent attendance.

6.75 hours of Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) will be provided following the completion of all pre-learning assignments.  NCPD is NOT provided for the live virtual learning circles. Live virtual learning circles will be hosted through Collaborate, an online classroom available through Moodle. Participants will need reliable internet access to participate.
