AHHA offers a variety of educational events and training throughout the year to support the needs of hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare partners. Upcoming events, on-demand virtual nurse training, and recordings of past events are listed below.

Nurse Training

ON-DEMAND VIRTUAL NURSE TRAINING

Following a member survey AHHA conducted on specialty nurse training needs, we have curated a pilot year of programming serving nurses across the state. AHHA’s workforce development contract funds allow us to offer some of these trainings at a discounted rate to our members.

Please note the following terms for payment and registration:

Supervisors or nurse leads should register attendees for their facility.
For those courses with a discounted rate, attendees will be required to pay a portion of the course tuition and applicable management and credit card fees when registering for a course. This is typically about 25% of the training cost and applicable fees with a minimum of $25.

Trainees can expect their course registration login information to be delivered to their email 2-4 weeks after registration completion directly from the training vendor.

AHCA/NCAL COURSES

AHCA/NCAL offers a wide range of trainings for long-term care and assisted living facility staff, administrators, and providers. Below are some suggested "hot courses" we recommend - please visit educate.ahcancal.org for a full list of available trainings.

Gero Nurse Prep
AHCA/NCAL’s Gero Nurse Prep course significantly increases nurses’ gerontological nursing knowledge and competency test scores. Nurses who complete Gero Nurse Prep show an average 24 percent increase between their pre- and post-course test scores even after working in long term care for a number of years. Specifically designed for nurses working in long term care, this curriculum provides comprehensive online training that can also lead to board certification in gerontological nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for two-year RNs and BSNs who choose to pursue that credential.

Nursing Home Administration: Beyond the Essentials
The Nursing Home Administration series delivers a comprehensive review of key topics that affect how successfully administrators operate skilled nursing facilities. The modules relate to all aspects of facility management including financial, clinical, regulatory, and leadership. This series builds upon training and education administrators received in their Administrator in Training programs and clarifies the rationale behind the actions nursing facility administrators should take each day to effectively manage their facilities.
