About the Event
Ready to see how a standard hotel can become a hospital in just four weeks?
In October 2023, the University of Colorado was selected as one of only three sites nationally to receive a grant from the Defense Health Agency (DHA) for the Modular/Convertible Capability Pilot Project. The mission: increase medical surge capacities for America’s combat casualties and national disasters. Their innovative solution was to design a rapidly deployable "hotel-to-hospital" framework.
After three years of groundbreaking research, development, and active testing, Team Colorado is taking the Hotel2Hospital (H2H) concept on the road and is offering this special session in Alaska.
This training session is designed to share vital findings and Colorado's Conversion Guidebook, and collaborate with regional partners to revolutionize national medical surge capacity.
Why Attend?
Learn how the H2H model can serve as a flexible option alongside your existing disaster plans, transforming a 150+ room hotel into a temporary hospital "wing" in four weeks.
Hear lessons learned from Colorado's exercises and live demonstration, where they converted active hotel spaces into functional ICU and med-surg rooms with support services.
Provide your unique perspective on the H2H Conversion Guidebook to help ensure it is practical, realistic, and valuable for teams nationwide.
Intended Audience
Healthcare and hospital executives and emergency management professionals
Public health and emergency management agency staff
Individuals with medical surge or response experience
Those connected to broader response networks (e.g., healthcare coalitions)
