Nursing Workforce Center Convening

In March 2024, more than 20 representatives of nurse education programs, healthcare employers, trade associations, and government entities met to assess interest in creating a Nursing Workforce Center for Alaska. In July 2024, a delegation reported to the group after attending the National Forum on State Nursing Workforce Centers annual conference, and it was decided to move ahead with establishing a center for our state. Seed money to fund this effort was secured from the Alaska Department of Public Health, and by May 2025, consultants for the project were hired, a steering committee was established, and work began drafting the center’s mission, organizational structure, and funding strategies.

This center will be a resource for everyone, from educators to employers, helping to improve recruitment, retention, and professional development of the nursing workforce. Your voice is critical to ensuring this center aligns with the real-world needs of your organization and the communities you serve. Please join us on November 4^th and help move the project into the implementation phase.
