About the Event

  • Are you an Emergency Department nurse with little or no experience in the Obstetrics Department?

  • Does the thought of an emergent delivery of a baby in the ED frighten you?

  • Does your facility not have an Obstetrical Department?

  • Do you want to learn more about emergent OB conditions that might present in your ED?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this eight-part educational series was designed with you in mind! Throughout this interactive experience, participants engage in simulated learning

opportunities, case study discussions, OB and newborn assessments/emergencies, and will

review priority interventions for various situations.

Content

Module 1: Anatomy and physiology in the pregnant person

Module 2: Assessment of contractions/fetal heart tones/electronic fetal monitoring

Module 3: OB Emergencies – Bleeding

Module 4: OB Emergencies – Pre-eclampsia/HELLP syndrome

Module 5: OB Emergencies – Prolapsed cord

Module 6: OB Emergencies – Shoulder Dystocia

Module 7: OB Emergencies – Delivery of Newborn/Newborn Care

Module 8: OB Emergencies – Cardia Arrest/Trauma

Training method

Online, asynchronous, self-paced

CEUs

1 hour per module = total 8 hours

Length of training

8 modules, approximately 1 hour to complete each. Training must be completed by January 10, 2026.
