The Alaska Perinatal Quality Collaborative launched the Obstetric Hemorrhage Initiative (OBHI) in January 2025 with eleven participating hospitals and two birth centers. OBHI engages hospitals in
collaborative quality improvement using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s
Breakthrough Series model. OBHI facilities are focused on implementing best practices in the
prevention, early identification, and management of obstetric hemorrhage, following the key
driver diagram and measurement plan and utilizing evidence-based changes listed in the

Change Package.
