AHHA is thrilled to welcome Cristan McLain as its new Director of Quality & Performance Improvement, beginning in June 2023.
Cristan has been a nurse for 25 years in a range of settings from long term care to critical care; since 2009 she has been the Quality & Regulatory Services Manager/Director of Quality at Providence Seward Medical and Care Center. She brings to her new role over fifteen years of experience in healthcare quality in both small rural hospitals and in long term care centers. She has also been involved with AHHA’s mentorship program helping new quality and infection prevention leaders develop their programs and practice.
Our programs and collaborative practices will benefit from Cristan's strong skills in change management, Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), Lean methodology, and passion for helping others solve problems and improve.
"My passion for change management and process improvement began when asked to assist a facility with survey readiness," Cristan shares. "I haven’t looked back! I enjoy helping teams solve problems and improve their processes for ultimately better outcomes and safer care for their patients and residents."
Cristan holds a Bachelor of Science, Nursing from the University of Providence, and an Associates in Applied Science, Nursing from White Mountain Technical College. She also holds a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification.
Cristan fulfilled a lifelong dream to live in Alaska when she moved to Seward 17 years ago. She enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing with her husband and two sons and she has a love for spreadsheets and gardening - she even has a spreadsheet for her garden!
Cristan is excited to join the AHHA team and help Alaskans access safe, quality healthcare across the state. Welcome, Cristan!
