ASHNHA President & CEO Named to Top Forty Under 40

The Alaska Journal of Commerce and the Anchorage Daily News just announced the 2022 Top Forty Under 40. ASHNHA's President & CEO Jared Kosin was among this year's class that was selected from 288 nominees, the largest number of submissions for the Top Forty Under 40 honors in years, if not ever.

Kosin has helped to shape health care policy, access, and delivery in Alaska through his extensive knowledge and experience in health care, law, and government affairs. Dave Wallace, CEO of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, describes him as, “a talented and passionate leader whose deep connection for people has propelled him to excellence in each leadership role he has held - a skilled and passionate statesman who works collaboratively with a diverse membership of senior executives.”

Through the COVID pandemic, Kosin has proven to be a remarkably adept and inspirational leader. Just six months after he took the helm at ASHNHA, the COVID pandemic slammed Alaska’s health care systems, testing our resources, policies, and networks. Kosin stepped up, bringing together state and hospital leaders to share data, pool knowledge and resources, and find innovative ways to augment supplies, staffing, and treatment options while also getting vaccines to people across the state.

“We have been able to work, at times daily, to help respond to the challenges brought forth via the COVID pandemic,” explains Dr. Anne Zink, Chief Medical Officer for the State of Alaska in a letter supporting his nomination. “Be it staffing, regulations, back transferring patients, creating new sites to do dialysis, I am honored to work with Jared, the never-ending problem solver, always looking for the next solution.“

Kosin played a pivotal role, working closely with the state on behalf of hospitals, long term care facilities, and other health partners, in enabling crisis standards of care and shoring up the health care workforce. He was able to strongly and persuasively advocate to state legislators and the Governor to streamline regulatory and credentialing processes for out-of-state healthcare workers that helped keep Alaska hospitals from shutting down.

Preston Simmons, Chief Executive Officer of Providence Alaska, works closely with Kosin as a member of ASHNHA’s Executive Committee. “Through the past two years, Jared has shown courageous yet thoughtful leadership through the pandemic crisis and has led with distinction,” he affirms in a letter of support. “He has tirelessly and successfully navigated Alaska healthcare through these uncertain times, speaking up both for the health industry and for individual Alaskans’ health, and doing it in a way that has built solid working partnerships with the State of Alaska, federal agencies, provider groups and the community.”

Congratulations to Jared and all of the members of the 2022 Top Forty Under 40. The 2022 awards event will be May 20, 2022 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage. Read more at alaskajournal.com.
