Nikki Holmes, BSN, RN, MBA starts at AHHA today as our Director of Healthcare Workforce. In this new role, Nikki will collaborate with member organizations and other healthcare partners to implement innovative solutions to expand and strengthen the healthcare workforce in Alaska.
Nikki is a strategic, mission-driven healthcare leader with 11 years of experience as a bedside nurse, hospital administrator, and project manager. She is passionate about improving healthcare in Alaska and believes that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.
Nikki began her healthcare career as a Registered Nurse in the areas of Neurology, Cardiology, Stepdown, and Post-Anesthesia Care at Providence Alaska Medical Center. After eight years on the front lines, she transitioned to a role as a hospital administrator in Patient Safety where she led complex hospital-wide safety improvement projects, before stepping into a position as the COVID Response Project Manager. In this short-term assignment, Nikki worked as the Planning Section Chief on the Incident Management Team for the Alaska region, helping to ensure effective communication between stakeholders and the continuity of care for patients during the pandemic.
Nikki also served as a former Advisory Board Chair of Health TIE, an organization she supports because she believes healthcare needs creative minds who can envision a better future and leverage technology to address deficiencies.
Nikki earned a Bachelor of Nursing Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She lives by the philosophy that education is a lifelong journey and approaches challenges with an open mind.
Nikki was born and raised in Alaska and loves spending time in nature with her husband, family and friends, and her wild mountain dog. When she is not tackling healthcare problems, she is in the mountains skiing, mountain biking, and peak-bagging.
