At last month's annual conference, AHHA presented Foundation Health Partner's CEO Shelley Ebenal with the American Hospital Association's Grassroots Champion award. This award is presented annually to one individual from each state to recognize hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues affect the hospital’s vital role in the community, who have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for the hospital, and who tirelessly advocate for the hospital and its patients.
"Shelley has been a vocal advocate for the Fairbanks community and the vital role Fairbanks Memorial Hospital plays as a community hospital, employer, and health system," said AHHA President & CEO Jared Kosin. "Whether educating federal officials on the unique challenges of accessing care in Alaska, or offering perspective to state and local lawmakers on healthcare policy and workforce issues, Shelley is a respected leader and champion for Alaska’s healthcare system."
