THE COMPANY

The Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA) represents more than 65 hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and other health care partners distributed across Alaska’s vast expanse of over half a million square miles, from PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in Southeast Alaska to Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Utqiaġvik, north of the Arctic Circle. Our mission is to advance the shared interests of Alaska’s hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare partners, to build an innovative, sustainable system of care for all Alaskans.


THE POSITION

The Director of Healthcare Workforce will develop statewide initiatives to meet the short and long-term workforce needs of the growing and changing healthcare sector in Alaska. The position will support the implementation of innovative initiatives that expand and stabilize the healthcare workforce. This position will engage and collaborate with hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care partners along with state and federal agencies to find creative solutions to workforce challenges.


The initial focus will include the following activities with room to support the great ideas you bring to our team.

  • Support implementation of training to strengthen the career ladder for nursing workforce.

  • Expand the use of apprenticeships to grow our own healthcare workforce

  • Stabilize the healthcare workforce by helping facilities implement actions to reduce burnout and build resilience.

  • Identify policy recommendations and advocacy priorities to impact workforce needs in Alaska.

This position will engage and collaborate with hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care partners along with state and federal agencies to find creative solutions to workforce challenges.

  • Position is full-time and offers competitive pay and benefits (salary range of $90,000 - $100,000.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a preference for a master’s degree.

  • Minimum of five years related work experience. Experience and/or firm understanding of workforce development programs and policy. Experience in healthcare preferred.

LOCATION

The position will work out of either the ASHNHA Anchorage or Juneau office, with partial work from home opportunity.
