THE COMPANY

The Alaska State Hospital & Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA) is a membership organization representing Alaska’s hospitals, nursing homes, home health and hospice agencies, and other health care providers. Our mission is to advance the shared interests of the health care industry to build an innovative, sustainable system of care for all Alaskans. Our membership spans geographically from PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center to Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Utqiaġvik. For over 60 years, ASHNHA members have worked to improve health care in Alaska.


THE POSITION

The Manager of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for developing and implementing projects that support ASHNHA’s strategic priorities, providing programmatic and fiscal management of external funding, and ensuring internal infrastructure is in place to support ASHNHA core services.


This position will focus on workforce as the priority strategic initiative. The initial focus will be on certified nurse aide (CNA) workforce development.


Activities will include the following:

  • Provide outreach and individualized support to nursing homes, hospitals, and CNA training programs to expand training for nurse aides.

  • Support a campaign to recruit CNAs by connecting them to hiring facilities and training programs.

  • Track the distribution of financial incentives for recruitment and retention of CNAs.

  • Research options and develop a plan for a CNA apprenticeship program.

  • Provide administrative support to ASHNHA’s Workforce Taskforce.

This position must work cooperatively and collaboratively with Alaska nursing homes and CNA training programs.

  • Position is full-time, benefitted.

  • Hourly range $28-32/hour based on experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care or related field (additional work experience can substitute for degree).

  • Four years of experience working in a health care or social service environment and/or experience in workforce training and development.

The position is located at the ASHNHA Juneau office with free parking.
