ree

South Peninsula Hospital's Long Term and Extended Care Facility is one of 209 long term care organizations in 40 states that have earned the 2025 Silver – Commitment to Quality Award from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

This award, along with the four bronze awards earned by Alaska facilities in May, brings the total to 25% of the state’s long-term care and skilled nursing facilities receiving AHCA/NCAL Commitment to Quality awards this year—the highest number ever awarded to Alaska providers in a single year.

"I'm incredibly proud of the South Peninsula Hospital LTC team for earning the well-deserved Silver – Achievement in Quality Award from AHCA/NCAL," said AHHA's Executive Vice President Connie Beemer. "Their unwavering dedication to their residents and community is inspiring."

The Silver award is the second of three levels in the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program recognizing organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of quality to improve the lives of their residents.

Applicants must first achieve the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award  before applying and advancing to the Silver level. At the Silver stage, recipients demonstrate their dedication to continuous improvement by utilizing their organization's performance improvement system to evaluate and improve processes. This structured approach helps them enhance their processes, ultimately driving measurable and sustainable results.

“The Silver Award level is no easy feat," affirms LaShuan Bethea, executive director of NCAL. “It is challenging to get to this level, and these recipients are not just meeting standards, they are going above and beyond to improve lives."

A full list of the 2025 award recipients is available on the AHCA/NCAL Quality Award website. South Peninsula Hospital, along with Maple Springs of Palmer, PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, Providence Seward Mountain Haven, and Utuqqanaat Inaat at Maniilaq Health Center will be recognized alongside recipients from across the country during the Elevating Excellence Awards Ceremony at AHCA/NCAL’s Convention & Expo: Delivering Solutions 25, in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday, October 21.

The 2025 National Quality Award Program is sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members: HealthCap, McKesson, Prevail by First Quality, Rosie, and Incite Workforce Solutions Powered by SnapCare.
